What does SugarHouse’s sportsbook look like?

SugarHouse has a partnership with European sportsbook provider Kambi. Kambi also powers the newly launched DraftKings Sportsbook.

The DraftKings offering may provide some clues as to what bettors will see when they log into the SugarHouse app and site. However, Kambi could have designed something entirely different for SugarHouse, so these are just educated guesses.

Consistent branding

The DraftKings app looks like a DraftKings product, through and through. The familiar black and green color scheme greets players and stays throughout their entire navigation. The typical “crowned-D” DraftKings logo is omnipresent.

So, it stands to reason that a SugarHouse app will feature its simple light gray backgrounds. Players will also find the familiar dark blue and white “SH” logo throughout.

Ease of navigation

One of Kambi’s innovations for the DraftKings app is the betting carousel. Players are not forced to navigate through the site to find betting options they want.

Instead, the app uses historical data, betting patterns, and specified preferences to create a custom wheel with suggested bets for each player. Obviously, players can still find betting options manually, but the interface likely makes the process more efficient and intuitive.

It is unknown whether the betting carousel will appear on the SugarHouse app. However, it’s a good bet that Kambi’s design will offer similar improvements to the customer experience.

Flexibility

The nice part about online utilities is that they are not usually troubled by increased complexity and variety. The DraftKings app is flexible about both the types and the amounts of bets that it will accept.

So, almost any type of bet is available on the DraftKings app. There is no reason to assume that the SugarHouse app will be any different.

Who is SugarHouse?

SugarHouse is a member of the Rush Street Interactive family of casinos and holdings. Rush Street Interactive also owns SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia, Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, Rivers Casino in Schenectady, New York, and Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, Illinois.

The company already operates an online casino in the Garden State. SugarHouse claimed the third and final available skin from Golden Nugget’s New Jersey license.

What kinds of bets will I be able to make?

Sugarhouse

You will be able to make most of the wagers that you would find in any other casino, sportsbook or online application. Some of the most popular and common wager types are:

  • Point spread
  • Moneylines
  • Totals (Over/Under)
  • Futures
  • Propositions
  • Parlays
  • Teasers/Pleasers
  • In-Game

Live ticket system

One of the most revolutionary aspects of the DraftKings Sportsbook is the ability for players to cash out their tickets at any time. The feature, known as the live-ticket system, will allow players to choose a special “Collect” button to receive a portion of their potential winnings.

In effect, this system will negate the chances of disaster at the last second. Cashing out will likely earn you both derision and envy, since other players will wish they pocketed the cash when had the chance.

Sports

It is unknown whether the SugarHouse app will feature a similar function. However, the shared providers for the software developer places the possibility in play.

SugarHouse Sportsbook PA app: Now live

If you are in Pennsylvania or nearby, you can also bet at SugarHouse when you leave the friendly confines of New Jersey.

SugarHouse Sportsbook PA is live as of May 2019. You need to register separately when you want to start wagering in PA.

The app is a lot like the NJ app, with some minor differences.

What sports will I be unable to bet at SugarHouse?

The only bets that you will certainly be unable to make are the ones that are prohibited by New Jersey state law. There are a few categories of wagers that are off-limits for all types of sportsbook in the state. They are:

  • Wagers on high school sports of any kind are never allowed.
  • Players can never bet on collegiate events that occur within the state, regardless of the teams playing
  • You also cannot wager on colleges that are based in New Jersey, no matter the venue they’re in. So, New Jersey residents can’t put money on Rutgers or Yale at any time.
  • If you are a player, coach, referee, trainer, or any other type of associated personnel with a particular sports, you cannot bet that sport on any level.

Will there be any rewards program on the SugarHouse sportsbook?

Sports Betting Stocks

Probably. SugarHouse already has an existing VIP program for its online casino function. It stands to reason that the sportsbook will offer the same system for sports betting. Loyalty points from one to the other will likely transfer without issue.

What kinds of banking options will I have?

SugarHouse offers a wide array of deposit options for its online casino customers. The same list of options will almost certainly be available to sportsbook patrons. They are:

  • 7-Eleven PayNearMe
  • ACH/eCheck*
  • Cash at the Golden Nugget cage in Atlantic City*
  • Neteller*
  • Online bill pay
  • SugarHouse Prepaid Card*
  • Wire transfer

What kind of support will be available?

You will be able to reach SugarHouse support via email at all hours of the day. You can also live chat with a representative from 10 a.m. to 4 a.m. EST.

You can call (855) 752-9101 for phone help, though hours may be limited through this method. If you are more of a do-it-yourselfer, there will also be an extensive FAQ to help you solve problems you may encounter.

Mobile sports betting is coming to Pennsylvania. Well, unless you have an iPhone.

On Tuesday, SugarHouse PA Online Sportsbook began live testing on its sports betting app. The “soft launch” is expected to last three days with the sportsbook only available at certain hours of the day while regulators ensure things like geolocation and age verification are working properly.

While this is a big step forward for mobile wagering in Pennsylvania, iPhone users still won’t be able to use the app. Operators are having trouble getting sports betting apps into the Apple app store. SugarHouse will be going live with only a direct Android download and a mobile-optimized browser interface. Bettors with Apple iPhones will have to wait to bet on their phones in Pennsylvania.

SugarHouse’s sportsbook is operated by Kambi, which powers PlaySugarhouse, DraftKings Sportsbook, and 888sport in New Jersey. Kambi also serves as the odds provider for the SugarHouse and Rivers Pennsylvania retail sportsbooks. SugarHouse and Rivers helped Pennsylvania sports betting set a record in March with $44.5 million in wagers.

SugarHouse and Rivers have led Pennsylvania operators in handle each month since sports betting was legalized in December. In the record-setting month of March, the two combined for $21.1 million in handle, representing close to half the total revenue of the state’s eight sportsbooks.

While SugarHouse is the first operator to offer online sports betting in Pennsylvania, they certainly won’t be the last with powerhouses FanDuel and DraftKings expected to join the party soon. FanDuel and DraftKings are by far the top two sportsbooks in terms of revenue in New Jersey. Over 80 percent of wagering in New Jersey comes from mobile apps.

DraftKings launched first in New Jersey and experienced immediate success, leading the state in revenue early. However, by the end of 2018, FanDuel surpassed its rival as the top sportsbook in New Jersey. A similar blueprint could be in store for Pennsylvania. SugarHouse gets the short-term edge by launching first, but it may not last long with competition on the way.

DraftKings currently doesn’t have a path into Pennsylvania even with a market-access deal with Caesars Entertainment already in place. DraftKings has yet to announce a Pennsylvania casino partnership but that will likely change soon with mobile wagering now open for business in the state.

FanDuel Sportsbook has a partnership with Valley Forge casino and launched its retail operation in March. It won’t be long before FanDuel’s mobile app is available in Pennsylvania. Parx Casino, William Hill, PointsBet and others are also expected to launch mobile apps soon in the Keystone State.
